Fly the Flag: artist's book

‘Fly the Flag’ is a handmade artist’s book documenting one of my participatory art projects. This beautifully crafted book contains 32 pages of original risograph prints which I handbound to form a limited edition book of 75 copies.

Climate Camp was held in a field beside the Shannon Estuary near Tarbert, Co Kerry, Ireland in August 2022. The purpose of the camp was to show resistance to the proposed Shannon LNG (liquefied natural gas) terminal nearby.

As part of the camp, I facilitated a flag-making workshop. Participants designed and painted large-scale flags that were then erected along the roadside boundary of the field. The flags were a colourful display of resistance and they remained in place for three months after the camp.

This handbound artist's book captures the vibrancy of this collaborative project, with flag-shaped illustrations of the participants' flags. The book is printed by Damn Fine Print using vegetable-based risograph inks on recycled paper.
